The Worcester Animal Rescue League welcomed animals from shelters in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and West Virginia that were affected by Hurricane Sandy last week.
These shelters in the hardest-hit areas in the Mid-Atlantic to Tri-State areas have either sustained damage or are inundated with lost animals separated from their families during the storm. The animals are being transported up the East Coast by a team from the Best Friends Organization. Upon arrival, shelter staff will evaluate their medical and behavioral needs and provide needed care. Shelter Executive Allie Tellier reports that the animals are ready for adoption. 14 kittens and adult cats have been brought to then shelter.
